The Forests listed are situated either wholly or partly in the Gaeltacht, as defined in the Gaeltacht Areas Order, 1956. It would be impracticable to extract separate figures related solely to the Gaeltacht areas. Such figures would in any case give an unrealistic picture since the acquisition, planting and management of land near a Gaeltacht area can reasonably be expected to benefit people living in that area.
