Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Age Groups of Children Leaving School.
8.
The figure of 55,000, quoted in the reply of 11 November, 1959, referred to, represents the estimated average annual number of children reaching their fourteenth birthday during the period 1955 to 1960. While it may be inferred that this figure also represents the average total number of persons ceasing their schooling annually, it is not possible, from the available statistics, to determine the numbers who leave school at the various ages.
