Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Royal Hospital, Kilmainham.

32.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state what it is proposed to do with the Royal Hospital at Kilmainham.

It has been decided in principle to use the Royal Hospital, Kilmainham, for museum purposes.

Could the Minister say if steps are being taken to preserve the fabric of this building?

The work is in progress.

Both on the Gaol and the Royal Hospital?

No, on the Royal Hospital.

Have any steps been taken about the Gaol?

I do not know.

It has certain historical associations.

It is a very difficult problem.

I agree.

Will the Royal Hospital be associated with the National Museum?

It will be open for visitors when the work is completed?

We hope so.
