Vol. 178 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - North Tipperary Unemployment Grants.

35.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the amount of the grant allocated to North Tipperary County Council for the relief of unemployment at Christmas, the number of persons to whom employment will be given under the grant, and the duration of their employment.

Grants are not allocated for Christmas Relief Schemes as such. Grants totalling £850, subject to a local contribution of £285, have been notified to Tipperary North Riding County Council for employment schemes in the four non-urbanised towns in the area which qualified for such grants this year. The schemes are calculated to give employment to a total of 43 men for a period of about three weeks.
