Recommendation No. 216 of the Consultative Assembly was considered in October by the Committee of Ministers' Deputies who authorised the Special Committee of Senior Officials for the Simplification of Frontier Formalities to hold a session in 1960. At this session the Special Committee will examine a proposal for the adoption by the Council of Europe of the collective passport system for young persons at present operated by Western European Union.
