Vol. 179 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Coast Erosion in Kerry.

31.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is in a position to state when measures, even of an exploratory nature, to solve the coastal erosion problem in Kerry will commence.

No decision has yet been taken regarding measures to deal with the problem of coast erosion generally, and I am not in a position to indicate when steps, even of an exploratory nature, may be taken to deal with the problem in Co. Kerry.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that the Kerry County Council recently sent a memorandum to his Department asking if he would receive a deputation in connection with some serious coast erosion in Kerry and, if so, will he state what his reply was?

I am aware that such a request has been received from the Kerry County Council. We have arranged for a survey of the problem to be made. Until that survey has been carried out, we shall not give any reply to the Kerry County Council in regard to receiving a deputation.
