asked the Taoiseach if he will state the total number of State or semi-State companies or corporations (a) of which the Government nominates the directors and (b) the membership of whose present boards is dependent on the holder having a competent knowledge of Irish.

The answer is "none".

4.

asked the Taoiseach if he will state (a) the total number of persons nominated by the Government to hold office on the controlling boards of State or semi-State companies or corporations, and (b) the total number of these persons for whom a competent knowledge of Irish was an established pre-condition for membership on such board.

The present Government has nominated two persons to hold office on the controlling boards of State or semi-State companies or corporations.

The statutory qualifications for membership of the boards in question do not include the possession of a competent knowledge of Irish
