Vol. 179 No. 5

Written Answers. - Forestry Wages, Employment and Bonus Earnings.

73.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state in respect of each forestry centre particulars of wages, employment and bonus earnings for 1959 and to date, in the form of a reply of 30th June, 1959, giving particulars of the basic wages of forestry workers and the operative date of the increased wages.

Information regarding wages, employment and bonus earnings at each Forest centre is not readily available in the form sought by the Deputy and I do not consider that the time and effort involved in extracting it specially would be justified.

In replies to previous questions put down by the Deputy on 30th June, 1959 and 21st October, 1959, details were given of current employment at each Forest centre, progress with the application of the Incentive Bonus Scheme and particulars of basic wage rates.

The present basic wage rates of forestry workers are:—Dublin 128/6d. Wicklow and Kildare 122/6d. and all other areas 117/6d. These rates are operative as from 2nd January, 1960.
