Vol. 179 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Income Tax Relief for Aged Persons.

6.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is prepared to introduce legislation to raise the qualifying income limit in respect of income tax relief for persons over the age of sixty-five years from £600 to £800 per annum.

The matter raised by the Deputy is one which would require Finance Bill legislation, and the Deputy will appreciate that I cannot indicate in advance what proposals my Budget Statement may or may not contain.

May I take it the matter will be given due consideration between now and the Budget?

I shall convey the Deputy's desire to the Minister.
