Vol. 179 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Imports of Oats.

1.

asked the Taoiseach if he will state the total quantity of (a) feeding oats and (b) seed oats imported during each of the past five years.

All imports of unmilled oats, excluding seed oats, are brought to account under the single heading "Unmilled Oats" of the Official Import List and it is not possible therefore to distinguish between imports of oats for feeding animals and imports of oats for eventual human consumption. Accordingly, I propose with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle to circulate in the Official Report a statement showing the total quantity (a) of unmilled oats, excluding seed oats, and (b) of seed oats imported in each of the years 1955 to 1959.

Following is the statement:—
