Vol. 180 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rural Electrification in Ballycroy (Mayo).

14.

andMr. Doherty asked the Minister for Transport and Power if the Electricity Supply Board have reconsidered the question of extending rural electrification to the Ballycroy parish, County Mayo.

I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that there has been no change in the position with regard to the selection of the Ballycroy area for development since my reply to a similar question by the Deputies on the 21st May, 1959.

Would the Minister ask the E.S.B. to make a further canvass of that area with a view to extending light and power there as soon as possible?

I shall draw the attention of the E.S.B. to that desirability.

Perhaps the Minister would direct the attention of the E.S.B. to the fact that the Department of Agriculture has already brought E.S.B. power and light a considerable part of the way to Ballycroy, and it would not be a very serious inconvenience to carry it the extra little bit from the Peatlands Research Station where it is already?
