Vol. 180 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Delays at Stamping Office.

11.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware that persons attending to stamp documents at the Stamping Office, Dublin Castle, experience considerable delays; and whether he will take steps to obviate the cause of such delays in future.

The accommodation available on the present site of the Stamping Office at Dublin Castle is limited and does not allow of any extension of the facilities for persons who wish to have their documents stamped while they wait. Consequently, when large numbers of callers present themselves at the same time, a certain amount of delay is unavoidable. This, however, occurs only at peak periods during the day.

Proposals are at present under consideration for the building of new premises for the Stamping Office and the necessity for better provision for personal callers is being borne in mind. In the meantime, the Revenue Commissioners are taking all possible steps to reduce delays to the minimum.
