Vol. 180 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Improvement of Curragh Lands.

20.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if the committee set up to consider ways and means of improving the lands of the Curragh, County Kildare, have yet reported; if so, when he hopes to publish such report; and, if not, whether he is now able, or will be when he is introducing the Estimate for his Department, to give any information as to their progress.

The answer to the first part of the Question is in the negative. As regards the last part, I understand that a draft report which has been under consideration by the Committee has not yet been finalised.

Has the Minister any indication as to when it will be finalised?

I am afraid I have not.

Perhaps the Minister will make some enquiries?

I have made inquiries but this is a very complicated matter. It is not simply a question of making inquiries as to the possibility of improving the lands of the Curragh. As the Deputy knows, there are other complications.

We shall see how the Minister travels at Estimate time.
