Vol. 180 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Charges for Transport of Livestock from Dingle Peninsula.

24.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power whether he has received representations from organisations in the Dingle peninsula protesting against the refusal of Coras Iompair Éireann to reduce freight charges for transport of livestock from the peninsula so as to bring them into line with charges operating in other areas; and what action he has taken in the matter.

Under the Transport Acts, Coras Iompair Éireann have complete freedom to fix their own rates and charges.

I have received certain representations in the matter referred to in the question which I have referred to C.I.E. I am advised that the matter is at present under consideration by the Board.
