asked the Taoiseach if the National Farm Survey, 1957-58 (east and midland region) reveals details of male hired labour units which indicate the approximate number of farms in each size group which gave full-time employment to hired labour by reference to the number of casual labour days or weeks entering into hired labour expenses (as outlined in page 4 of the Report of September, 1958) or having regard to fluctuations in the monthly or quarterly hired labour expenses, and the percentage of the total in each case.
The basic records of the National Farm Survey are not in such a form as would permit of the extraction of data on the distribution of farms according to extent of employment beyond those of the type furnished in reply to previous questions.
