I would refer the Deputy to my reply to a similar question by Deputy O'Donnell on 2nd March last in which I indicated that a provision to extend the franchise at Dáil elections to members of the Garda Síochána will be included in forthcoming legislation to amend the electoral law. I cannot say at present when the legislation will be introduced but it may be expected to follow closely on the Report of the Joint Committee on Electoral Law.
