Vol. 182 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wicklow Lands.

28.

asked the Minister for Lands when it is expected that the Cooney lands at Maherymore, County Wicklow, which the Land Commission have acquired will be allotted to deserving applicants.

29.

asked the Minister for Lands if the Land Commission who have acquired lands at Maherymore, County Wicklow, will allot a portion for a cow park for the convenience of agricultural workers residing in the area.

I propose with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle to take Questions Nos. 28 and 29 together.

It is not as yet possible to indicate when this 349-acre estate, which came into the possession of the Land Commission last October, will be allotted but there will be no avoidable delay. The question of setting aside portion of the lands as a cow park will be fully considered before allocation takes place.

Will the Minister not give this matter his sympathetic consideration? At the present time the milk is all sent to Dublin and comes back in bottles.

It is a matter for the Land Commission but where local circumstances require it, the matter is always given the fullest consideration.

If an application comes from a number of workers will it be considered?

It will be fully considered.
