I move:
That a sum not exceeding £165,490 be granted to complete the sum necessary to defray the charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending on the 31st day of March, 1961, for the Salaries and Expenses of the Houses of the Oireachtas, including certain Grants-in-aid.
I would direct the attention of the Minister to the need for proper ventilation in this House and also to the need for the provision of an effective means of silencing footsteps in the Public Gallery. We welcome visitors and school children but sometimes when a number come in together, the footsteps drown the voice of whoever is speaking. Perhaps some form of carpeting in the Visitors' Gallery would help?
