Vol. 184 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Drainage Scheme.

70.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of the considerable damage caused in the Dún Laoghaire/Rathdown areas during the week-end which included 2nd October, 1960; and if he has any proposals to alleviate the damage caused by recurrent flooding in these areas.

71.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is now in a position to say what progress has been made on the joint drainage scheme for the Dún Laoghaire/Rathdown area; on what portions of the scheme work has commenced; and when it is expected that the work will be completed.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions 70 and 71 together. I am aware that flooding occurred again in the area recently but I have no information as to the extent of any damage caused. Work on the main portion of the South County Surface Water Drainage Scheme commenced in the Stillorgan area on the 13th October. The period specified in the contract documents for completion of the work is two years.

The Dún Laoghaire Corporation have not yet put forward their final proposals for the further scheme for their area.
