Vol. 184 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Compensation for Kerry Land-Owners.

18.

asked the Minister for Finance (a) when compensation will be paid to the ten landowners at Coolrovane, Lixnaw, County Kerry, for damage caused to their turbary during the course of operations on the Feale drainage scheme; and (b) what amount of money has been offered to the persons concerned.

Sums ranging from £1 to £50 have been offered to the land-owners concerned for land being acquired in Coolaruane for the purposes of the Feale Catchment Drainage Scheme. Requests for increased payments are being considered. Failing agreement, the matter will fall to be disposed of by arbitration in accordance with the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945.

Payment will be made in each case following settlement of the amount and conveyance of the plot concerned to the Commissioners.
