Vol. 184 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Shannon-London Air Services.

37.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power the total number of passengers carried by the Aer Lingus Shannon-London service to the most recent available date.

In the period from the commencement of the Shannon-London Service on the 30th May, 1960, to the 30th September, 1960, the total number of passengers carried by Aer Lingus was 9,744.

Would the Minister use his good offices with Aer Lingus to restore the former schedule on Shannon-London flights? There was recently a question of this schedule being curtailed.

Is the Deputy aware that the Minister has no function in regard to a transport company of any kind?

Will the Minister tell me how it is that he can answer a question regarding Aer Lingus, or regarding a matter that concerns Aer Lingus, and when I put down a question to him regarding Tramore Railway——

(Interruptions.)

——he has no official responsibility in the matter?

That is not a relevant Supplementary Question. I am calling Question No. 38.

The two questions are entirely different.

Would the Minister point out the difference between answering a question relative to the operations of Aer Lingus and Coras Iompair Éireann because it appears to me——

Question No. 38.

(Interruptions.)

I asked the Minister a Supplementary Question which was in order and he has not replied to it.

I have no power to compel a Minister to answer a Supplementary Question.
