Vol. 184 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Survey of Roscommon Rivers.

18.

asked the Minister for Finance what progress has been made in the matter of the promised survey of the Ballyglass and Culleen Rivers, County Roscommon.

It has not so far been found possible to undertake a survey of either of these rivers.

Would the Parliamentary Secretary tell us when it is likely that such a survey will take place?

As I told the Deputy on a previous occasion, there are four rivers which it is hoped to add to the programme in the coming year and when the survey work on those is completed it may be possible to have the staff transferred to the Ballyglass River which flows into Lough Rea.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary not aware that he promised that there would be no delay in undertaking the survey of these rivers and that since the Local Authorities (Works) Act has ceased to operate there is grave need for the alleviation of flooding, particularly in County Roscommon?

There is no delay.

I suppose Donegal will get preference as usual?

What can the Deputy expect?

Do not strike that observation from the record.

Put that on the record.
