Vol. 184 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Accounts of Dairy Disposal Company.

30.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will arrange that the annual reports, trading and profit and loss accounts of the Dairy Disposal Company Limited and associated companies be laid on the Table of the Dáil.

The Consolidated Balance Sheet of the Dairy Disposal Company Ltd., and Associated Companies is laid on the Table of the Dáil each year. As these private limited companies are not in receipt of financial assistance from the State, I do not propose to make available their trading and profit and loss accounts. The Companies do not prepare annual reports.

Is it not the practice for State and semi-State companies to issue annual reports and accounts and, if they are available, to have them laid on the Table of the House? Would the Minister say why this is the only exception to the general rule?

I do not think it would be fair or reasonable to ask them to do so.
