Vol. 185 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rents of Dublin Corporation Shops.

43.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware of the difficulties which have arisen causing hardship to shopkeepers and customers in respect of the letting of Dublin Corporation shops at rents which are far in excess of the earning power of the premises concerned; and if he proposes to take action in the matter.

44.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Local Government whether the Dublin Corporation has sought his consent to the making of long-term leases with a fine and ground rent to existing tenants of Dublin Corporation shops in substitution for the short-term lettings at present held by them; and, if so, what decision he has made in the matter.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 43 and 44 together.

I am not aware of the difficulties or hardship referred to in the letting of Corporation shops and no proposals of the nature mentioned by the Deputy have been submitted to me by the Corporation.
