Vol. 185 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Pharmacy Qualifications: Reciprocal Agreement.

6.

asked the Minister for Health whether it is intended to seek a reciprocal arrangement between the Irish and British authorities for the mutual recognition of each other's qualifications in pharmacy.

There is no provision for the making of such arrangements in the Pharmacy Acts. Legislation is, however, in course of preparation in my Department under which the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland would be enabled to register persons who have, outside the State, undergone certain satisfactory training and passed appropriate examinations. If such legislation is enacted it will be open to the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland to seek an arrangement with the Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain for the mutual recognition of each other's qualifications.
