asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he has received proposals from the Irish Congress of Trade Unions for the amendment of the Holidays (Employees) Act, 1939; whether he intends introducing legislation to give effect to such proposals; and, if so, when the legislation is likely to be introduced.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Holidays (Employees) Act, 1939: Amendment.
42.
I stated in reply to a motion in the House on the 10th November, 1960, that the Government had decided to introduce legislation to increase the minimum holiday entitlement of workers. The legislation is in course of preparation and I hope that it will be possible to introduce the Bill during the course of the present session of the Dáil. The Irish Congress of Trade Unions put forward proposals on 6th December, 1960, in connection with the amending legislation and these are being considered.
