Vol. 186 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Dispensaries.

10.

asked the Minister for Health what proposals are before his Department for the provision of new dispensaries and the renovation of old dispensaries in Cork City and suburbs.

In September, 1958, my Department approved of a proposal of the local authority to acquire sites for the erection of new dispensaries to replace existing unsuitable premises in the Cork Urban No. 1 and Douglas dispensary districts. The local authority subsequently suggested the acquisition, in each case, of a site which I considered unsuitable. My Department is awaiting a specific proposal from the local authority for the acquisition of alternative sites for the two new dispensaries.

A site for a new dispensary at Ballyphehane has already been acquired, with my approval, but I understand that the local authority have not so far proceeded with the erection of the premises.

There are no proposals before my Department for the renovation of existing dispensary premises in Cork City and suburbs.
