asked the Taoiseach the approximate number of Irish-born citizens resident in Great Britain at the latest date for which the information is available.

The latest information regarding the birthplace of residents of Great Britain is that collected at the Censuses of Population in 1951. I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to circulate in the Official Report a statement giving the information required as returned in the Reports of the Censuses of England and Wales and Scotland that year.

Following is the statement:
