Vol. 189 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Inspection of County Council Cottages.

19.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of the widespread dissatisfaction over the system of carrying out the inspection of county council cottages in the case of post-vesting appeals to his Department; and if he will state who is responsible for inspecting the houses after the repairs are carried out.

I am not so aware. Inspection of cottages is carried out by Departmental Inspectors for the purpose of advising me in regard to appeals received against the state of repair of cottages at the time they are vested in the tenants. On the determination of an appeal, the responsibility for carrying out the further repairs, if any, required by such determination rests with the housing authority.
