Vol. 189 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Building Trade Agreement.

23.

asked the Minister for defence when it is proposed to implement the recent Dublin building trade agreement for a reduction in the hours of work in respect of building trade workers employed by his Department in Dublin.

The terms of the recent agreement negotiated between representatives of employers' organisations and trade unions providing for a reduction in hours of work have been implemented in respect of civilian employees of my Department who are engaged in building or building maintenance work in Dublin barracks and Baldonnel.

Can the Minister say what date it was implemented?

The new hours were put into effect from 12th April but an adjustment in pay was made to cover the period from the date agreement became operative in outside employment and this arrangement was to the satisfaction of the trade unions.
