Vol. 191 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Grants for Water Supply Schemes.

13.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the number of applications for grants which were sanctioned under the water supply scheme in each year since the scheme was initiated in (a) the country as a whole, and (b) County Cork, and the total number of such grants made available to the latest available date.

As the reply includes a tabular statement, I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to have it circulated with the official Report.

Following is the information:—

NOTE: The figures of applications sanctioned and grants paid are not directly comparable because (a) an applicant who proposes to provide at the same time a water supply to his farm dwelling and one to his farmyard and fields receives only one approval while the combined amount paid to him is, for accounting reasons, recorded as two separate grants, and (b) a grant is not necessarily paid in the same year as that in which the relevant application is sanctioned.

Could the Minister give the final figures?

The total for the whole country is 20,238 and for Cork county, 5,162.
