Vol. 191 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Forestry Operations in Donegal.

23.

asked the Minister for Lands if a decision has been taken to purchase 344 acres of forestry land at Ardaturr and Cloughfinn, Clonmany, County Donegal.

My Department took over an area of 32 acres for afforestation in the townlands of Ardaturr and Drumalifferney, near Letterkenny, last March. The lands have been attached to Meenirroy State Forest and they are being held as part of the plantable reserve of that centre for the present.

An area of 312 acres offered in the townland of Straid, near Clonmany, was found on inspection to be unsuitable for planting.

24.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will indicate when work will commence on forestry lands purchased at Magheramore and adjoining townlands at Carndonagh, County Donegal.

No land has yet been acquired by my Department for forestry purposes in the Magheramore district but agreement to purchase three areas totalling 127 acres in the townland of Churchland Quarters has been reached. The owners will have to show title to the lands before the sales can be closed and possession of the lands taken by my Department.
