Vol. 191 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Housing Loans.

36.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the manner in which the scheme of loans up to £200 for houses, introduced in 1958, differed from earlier schemes; and how many loans have been advanced under such new scheme.

Prior to August, 1958, Land Commission advances to supplement housing grants provided by the Department of Local Government ranged from £40 (minimum) to £100 (maximum), depending on security — the basis of calculation being ten times the unrevised annuity on the applicant's holding. Since August, 1958, advances ranging from £100 (minimum) to £200 (maximum), depending on security, have been available — the basis of calculation being twenty times the applicant's unrevised annuity.

The number of such advances made from August, 1958, to date is 82.
