asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state in respect of the Agricultural Wages Board and the Agricultural Wages Area Committees (a) the date on which the last meeting of the Board was held; (b) the date on which the last meeting of each Wages Committee was held; (c) the earliest date on which the next meeting of the Board can be held to consider recommendations made by the Committees; and (d) the reason why no meeting of the Board was held in June or July, 1961.

According to information which I have received from the Agricultural Wages Board the replies to parts (a), (b) and (c) of the Deputy's question are as follows:

(a) 3rd May, 1961.(b) Agricultural Wages Area Committee:No. 1—8 June, 1961,No. 2—9 June, 1961,No. 3—2 June, 1961,No. 4—24 May, 1961,No. 5—23 May, 1961.(c) A meeting of the Board has been convened for the 9th August, 1961. The notices convening this meeting were sent out on the 26th July, 1961.(d) In the light of the information received from the Board about parts (a), (b) and (c) of the Deputy's question, and having regard to the provisions of Section 17 of the Agricultural Wages Act, 1936, and to the usual practice in regard to the convening of meetings, I do not propose to seek further information from the Board as to why they held no meeting in June or July, 1961. |
