Vol. 191 No. 13

Committee on Finance. - Holidays (Employees) Bill, 1961— Money Resolution.

I move:

That it is expedient to authorise such payment out of moneys provided by the Oireachtas as are necessary to give effect to any Act of the present session to make better provision for the allowance of holidays to employed persons and to provide for other matters connected with the matter aforesaid.

Could the Minister explain why there is a Money Resolution here? I cannot see that this Bill would involve any additional cost for administration.

I do not anticipate there will be any additional cost. However, under certain provisions of the Bill, power will be given to inspectors to carry out certain inspections to see if the provisions of the Bill are being adhered to. There is no intention of employing any additional inspectors but one never knows whether any extra financial commitments will be involved. It is the usual procedure to move a Money Resolution in connection with the Committee Stage where there is that possibility.

It is a precaution rather than an intention?
