asked the Minister for Local Government if in view of his statement of 21st February that changes were necessary in the Town and Regional Planning Acts to ensure orderly and progressive development of towns and countryside, and to preserve and improve their amenities, he will give an outline of the directions in which he proposes to alter the Acts; and at what date he hopes to introduce such amending legislation as may be necessary.

The Bill is intended to repeal the Town and Regional Planning Acts, 1934 and 1939, and to replace them with more up-to-date and flexible provisions. I expect that it will be introduced in time for consideration before the summer adjournment.
