Vol. 193 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Erris (Mayo) Turbary Plots.

63.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will provide turbary plots for the many tenants in the Erris area of North Mayo who are at present without turbary rights.

Pending development of turbary held by them in this district, it is the practice of the Land Commission to make seasonal lettings to supplement the facilities by private lettings which, I understand, are readily available. In recent years, an average of about 70 lettings per season has been made by the Land Commission in the district.

Would the Minister be good enough to make further inquiries into this matter and try to provide better turbary facilities? They are really wanted there.

I shall certainly convey the Deputy's representations to the Land Commission for their investigation.
