Vol. 193 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Salaries of Health Inspectors.

8.

asked the Minister for Health what is the present position with regard to the proposed salary increase for health inspectors.

Health Inspectors are remunerated on a standard salary scale, any increase in which is primarily a matter for the individual health authorities. I understand that an offer of a revised scale made to representatives of the health inspectors was not accepted and the matter has been referred to the Labour Court, which, I understand, will consider it in the near future.

In the meantime, proposals to pay the revised salary scale which, as mentioned, was not acceptable to representatives of the inspectors, were submitted for my approval by some health authorities. I have not conveyed my decision on these proposals, pending consideration of the claim by the Labour Court.
