Vol. 193 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Export of Horsemeat and Offals.

4.

asked the Taoiseach if he will state in respect of each week since 30th November 1961 (a) the places or countries to which horsemeat and offals were exported, (b) the number and value of quarters exported, (c) the number and value of hides exported, (d) the quantity and value of offal exported, and (e) the number, description and value of live horses, aged seven years or over, exported.

I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to circulate in the Official Report a statement showing the exports of horses, of horseflesh and of hides of horses, mules and asses, for the months of December 1961 and January 1962, the latest periods for which the information is available. Data are compiled only on a monthly basis and are obtainable only for the headings in the Official Export List which does not separately distinguish horse offals or horse hides and does not differentiate non-bloodstock horses on an age basis.

Following is the statement:—

DOMESTIC Exports of Horseflesh, Hides of horses, mules and asses and Horses in each month December and January, 1962.
