Vol. 194 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mallow Water Supply.

48.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that forty county council serviced houses at Canon Sheehan Place, Mallow, County Cork have a water supply for only one and a half hours on three days in the week; and what steps he intends taking to see that these tenants get a water supply proper to fully serviced houses.

I am informed that the water supply to the houses referred to by the Deputy is unsatisfactory due to inadequate pressure in portions of the Mallow urban supply. The question of remedial action is one in the first instance for the sanitary authority. I am informed, however, that the difficulty should be overcome by the Mallow urban water supply improvement scheme which is expected to reach tenders stage in the near future.
