Vol. 194 No. 2

Written Answers. - Agricultural Social Insurance Stamps.

108.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the estimated number of agricultural social insurance stamps sold in each of the two most recent years for which figures are available, expressing the number of insurance stamps sold as man-years; and the number of each class of social welfare insurance stamps sold in a recent year and the yield of 1d. on the total sale of stamps.

The numbers of social insurance stamps sold in respect of male agricultural workers in the calendar years 1960 and 1961 are:—

1960

2,926,566

1961

2,705,871

The number of man-years represented by the contributions for male agricultural employment in each of the two years is:—

1960

56,280

1961

52,036

Corresponding figures for female agricultural workers are not available for the reason that the contribution rate applicable to them applies also to certain other classes of insured persons, and it is not possible to segregate the agricultural from the other employments.

The following Table shows the number of each class of insurance stamps sold in the year ended 31st March, 1961, and the yield of 1d. on the total sale of stamps:—
