Vol. 194 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - North Tipperary Forestry Employment.

57.

asked the Minister for Lands the number of persons employed in forestry by his Department in North Tipperary in each of the years 1957 to 1961 inclusive; and whether he expects any increase in forestry employment to take place in North Tipperary in the near future.

The average numbers of men in the direct employment of the Forestry Division of my Department at the North Tipperary Forests for the years in question were as follows:— 1957/58—118; 1958/59—112; 1959/60 —120; 1960/61—136; 1961/62 (to date)—115.

It is expected that employment in the area in the coming season will be at about the same level as at present.
