Vol. 194 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Deaths in Defence Forces.

83.

asked the Minister for Defence the number of men who were killed in the service of the nation in the years 1939-45 in (a) the Army (b) the Marine Service, (c) the Air Corps, and (d) the Merchant Service.

In so far as Óglaigh na hÉireann are concerned records are not available in a form which would enable the particulars requested by the Deputy to be readily furnished. The figures are, however, approximately as follows:—

An tArm, 54; An tSeirbhís Chabhlaigh, 5; An tAer Chór, 13.

I have no information on the subject regarding the Merchant Service.
