asked the Minister for Justice the number of juveniles at present held in St. Patrick's Institution, North Circular Road, Dublin, the various crimes for which they were committed and the length of time for which they were committed.

The total number of young persons in custody in St. Patrick's Institution on 3rd April, 1962 was 142. Of this number, 129 were in custody under sentence, 6 were committed in custody for trial and 7 were in custody on remand.

Particulars in relation to the offences and length of sentences are contained in a tabular statement which, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, will be circulated in the Official Report.
