Vol. 194 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Irish Port Statistics.

20.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he will state to the latest available date in respect of the following ports: Drogheda; Wexford; Waterford; Fenit, County Kerry; Dundalk; Limerick; Galway; and Burtonport, County Donegal, (1) the number of ships which entered and left each port; (2) the amount of cargo in tons carried by each ship into and out of each of these ports; (3) the total amount of dock dues collected in each port; and (4) the proposed amount of Government grants to each port to be made in the near future.

I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle to circulate, in the Official Report a statement giving the information requested. Information as to the quantities of cargo carried in each individual ship is not available but the total tonnage of cargo for the year in each port is shown.

For the convenience of the Deputy, I have included in the statement particulars of previous State grants.

Do the ships include fishing vessels?

I am not sure whether they do include fishing vessels. They include merchant ships.
