Vol. 194 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Surrender of Passport.

80.

asked the Minister for Justice if the passport of Mrs. Paul Singer was surrendered to offers of his Department; and, if so, if it has so far been returned to her.

The passport was handed up to the Garda Síochána as a condition of bail granted by order of the High Court when Mrs. Singer was on remand. When she was returned for trial, however, the condition that her passport should be held by the Gardaí was not retained in the new bail bond or in subsequent bonds.

Her solicitor later asked the Gardaí for the return of the passport, drawing attention to the conditions of the bail which did not authorise its retention, and the passport was, therefore, handed back.
