11.

asked the Minister for Finance whether, further to the reference made in the statement circulated by his Department detailing the matters covered in Vote 9, subhead B of the Estimates for 1962-63 in relation to a new poultry plant for the Munster Institute, estimated to cost £98,500, he will give a detailed description of the proposed poultry plant, of the purposes for which it is being built, and of the stage at present reached in its construction.

The works covered by the estimate of £98,500 comprise the construction of various poultry houses, an administration block, an implement shed, a food store, a caretaker's house, service roadways, and other ancillary works and the provision of equipment. The works are required for the purpose of providing a sound practical training for intending poultry instructors, for the carrying out of poultry breeding work of an advanced nature and for conducting experiments in various aspects of poultry husbandry. The scheme is being carried out in stages and to date five trapnest houses, a flock breeding house, a floor brooder house, a tier brooder houses, a table chicken house and a food store have been provided at a cost of about £16,500. The planning of the remainder of the scheme is now being put in hands.
