Vol. 194 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Limerick Paper Manufacturing Industry.

9.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if his attention has been drawn to a recent report regarding the establishment of a paper manufacturing industry in Limerick by an American businessman; and if he will state the grounds on which the Industrial Development Authority turned down this proposal.

I have seen the report referred to. I am advised that, while there were a number of discussions with the American group concerned, a definite proposal for the establishment of this industry was never put forward. The Industrial Development Authority did not turn down the proposal; on the contrary, they told the promoters that any proposal put forward would receive prompt consideration.

That has a familiar ring.

There is not a thing in writing.
