Vol. 195 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Enniskerry (Wicklow) Water Supply.

15.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that the water supplied by pipes to some of the residences at Monastery Road, Enniskerry, County Wicklow, is again dirty and discoloured and is, in the view of a number of people, unfit for drinking; if he will take steps to ensure that an adequate and clean water supply will be provided; and what was the result of the investigation carried out by him regarding this supply following a reply on the subject on 6th June, 1961.

A recent report on the water supply in question, submitted by Wicklow County Council, indicated that the water was clear and of good potable quality but was taking up iron from the pipes. The county medical officer reported that the iron was not a danger to public health.

The medical officer's report is at present being considered by the council.
