Vol. 195 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rearrangement of Connemara Townlands.

23.

asked the Minister for Lands when he expects that the rearrangement will be carried out by his Department in the townlands of Upper Rossaveele and Lower Rossaveele, Connemara, County Galway.

In order to make available the additional land required for a satisfactory rearrangement of the fragmented holdings in this district, it is essential that a sufficient number of tenants should be prepared to migrate. Already, four tenants have been taken out by the Land Commission and resettled on new holdings elsewhere but further migrations may be necessary. While it is not possible, therefore, to indicate at present when rearrangement can be carried out, a willingness on the part of tenants to migrate would help to expedite the formulation of proposals.
